DON’T MAKE IT MORE EXPENSIVE TO OWN A HOME

Housing costs in Oregon are out of control. Raising the tax burden on homeowners during a global pandemic will only make it harder to afford a home.

Yet, some legislators in Salem want to raise taxes by eliminating the state mortgage interest deduction – effectively increasing the tax burden on homeowners by thousands of dollars.

Under the proposed legislation, many Oregon homeowners would no longer be able to deduct mortgage interest from their state income taxes.

Some Oregon politicians are always looking for new ways to raise taxes. Now they are trying to balance the budget on the backs of homeowners. Enough is enough.
